Lazy Gardener

I have two of those upside down tomato planters.. One holds Roma tomatoes and one holds cherry tomatoes. I've learned that those things hold plants that grow smaller fruits better than plants that grow large fruits.

So I went out to water them. And on the ripest fruit was a white fuzzy blob.

I looked closer, it was not a caterpillar; it did not have legs. Could it be a mold? Some of the tomatoes had split or gotten black on the bottoms already this season. Instead of doing anything, I left it. If it spread, I'd take out the damaged branch.

Call me lazy.

I went out the next day to check on my plants. The white fuzzy thing? Good news; non-invasive! Bad news; it was an egg sac. Or rather, a few hundred egg sacs. And they had hatched. So tiny I could not make out what they were with my naked eye. I hosed the fruit off with a super jet of water.

Did I learn anything from this? Some fuzzy white things are egg sacs.
